Motherhood

2023, 30x30cm

Becoming a mother is a delicate and intense process. Since the birth of my son, I have undergone a myriad of emotions, including contrast and profound love. I had to learn to "let go," allowing my son to grow independently, to step away, enabling him to collide and connect with the world and with me.

It's a profoundly personal yet also a "public" experience; every mother tackles it in her own way, but there's also a desire for connection with others to understand how to improve oneself. Mothers often feel observed and judged, seldom understood by other parents, schools, etc.

It's also a situation of deprivation as the mother becomes entirely absorbed by the child, needing to learn anew how to take care of herself, albeit in a new way. She can no longer be the person she was before; something is taken away from her. Yet, simultaneously, she discovers one of the greatest joys and satisfactions.

In this work, I have delved into these emotions and contradictions, this love-conflict-distance-approach-merging-confusion.
