Giobatta Meneguzzo: mi sono tanto divertito
book
The glorious adventure of Giobatta Meneguzzo (Priabona, 1928 - Malo, 2021) begins in Malo, near Vicenza. A surveyor by profession, he made his debut by participating in the process of renewing the urban center of his town. With his first earnings he dedicated himself to collecting art books and then to collecting contemporary works of art. In 1969, based on a design by Giò Ponti and with interiors by Nanda Vigo, he created his futuristic house «Lo scarabeo sotto lafolia». In 1978 he inaugurated the Casabianca Museum, exhibiting to the public the largest collection of contemporary art graphics from the 1960s and 1990s. The volume traces the contours of a visionary man thirsty for modernity, tenaciously anchored to his peasant origins, but animated by inexhaustible curiosity. An anthropologist of the present who, understanding his collection as a chronology of phenomena of the spirit of the time, gives us back the art customs of one of the most fruitful eras in the history of our country.
